There are no known contraindications to using Onyfix®. 

Onyfix® does not make direct skin contact, and there have been no reported allergic reactions. There is no torque applied by foreign objects such as hooks or suction cups that can put your patient at risk. By decreasing the curvature of the nail through its own natural physiological growth, Onyfix® is safe for even the highest risk patients*.

*This includes children, pregnant women and even patients with peripheral neuropathy who are not candidates for a surgical matrixectomy.

There is no down-time.

Once the Onyfix® compound has been cured with the provided LED light, your patient is free to do whatever activity they already had planned… running, swimming or dancing - you name it, they can participate.

Yes, provided that they are using a nail polish that can be removed with acetone or liquid nail polish remover.

A gel or shellac polish that requires mechanical debridement or filing to be removed should not be used as the Onyfix® strip may come off during mechanical debridement.

Absolutely.

Once the Onyfix® compound is cured, your patient can bathe, shower and swim as they like.

If even one step is missed than the bonding process can be compromised.

Below are some troubleshooting tips to help prevent early dislodgement:

- Don't forget to cure the Onyfix® Primer for 30 - 45 seconds after application

- Wipe away any excess moisture following the Onyfix® Primer curing process

- Make sure that the battery in your Onylux® Blue LED Light is fully charged

- Charge the Onylux® Blue LED Light when you first receive it, even if it already seems to have a charge

- If onycholysis is present, then apply two layers of Onyfix® Soft, as opposed to one layer of Onyfix® Hard

- Ensure that your Onyfix® strips are 2mm in height and 2mm in width

- Do not touch the Onyfix® compound on the skin during the application process as the oils in the skin can negatively impact the bonding process

- If using a water drill, turn off the spray when preparing the nail surface prior to the application of the Onyfix® Primer

- Use non-woven sponges when preparing the nail surface

- Do not use cotton balls when preparing the nail surface as they can leave lint that can negatively impact the bonding process

- Make sure to apply the Onyfix® strip straight across the nail - do not follow the curvature of the proximal nail fold

The Onyfix® Hard and Onyfix® Soft compounds are essentially the same.

These compounds have different consistencies to allow for easier application and to be more applicable to a range of nail presentations.

Onyfix® Hard is a denser compound that is recommended for large, thick nails with strong deformations.

Onyfix® Soft has more of a glue-like consistency that is better suited for smaller, thinner and more flexible nails, including those of children.

Tip✨ -  Two layers of the Onyfix® Soft will have a comparable effect to the Onyfix® Hard. Applying two layers of Onyfix® Soft can improve the bonding for smaller, thinner and more flexible nails. This stays on better for younger, thinner and more flexible nails.

We recommend you wait.

It is important to remember that blood and other body fluids can negatively impact the bonding process of the Onyfix® compound. It is recommended that you have your patient come back for Onyfix® application post-antibiotic therapy.

This depends on the requirements of the individual patient.

Generally speaking, you can follow this timeline.

Follow-Up #1: Initially, follow-up at 6 weeks for assessment of Onyfix® strip application and general treatment

Follow-Up #2: Secondary follow-up at 12 weeks for secondary Onyfix® strip application

Follow-Up #3+: Follow-up every three months for Onyfix® strip application until the involution has been adequately reduced.

Tip✨ -  When you add your secondary proximal strips, leave the original strips. This will only help to improve the results.

Yes.

It is a legal requirement that the expiration date be printed on the product packaging. The Onyfix® Primer will be the first product to expire, as this contains a high percentage of alcohol that can evaporate once opened. To maintain the integrity of your Onyfix® products we recommend that you do not store them in direct sunlight and they be stored at below 25℃.

Onyfix® can be applied post-PNA.

When used as part of the PNA protocol, simply apply a double Onyfix® strip immediately after the procedure. It is likely that the patient will require at least two Onyfix® applications.

Tip✨ -  When applying a double Onyfix® strip, one strip should be located as proximally as possible, and the other strip should be mid-nail.

This is patient dependent.

The Onylux® Blue LED Light must be used to correctly cure the Onyfix® compounds.

The Onylux® Blue LED Light will result in eye damage during recommended use. This means that you and your patient do not need to wear eye protection. It is still recommended to not stare directly into the light at any time due to discomfort that this can cause.

Tip✨ - Its important to note you must use the light provided in your Onyfix® Starter Kit as it is specifically designed to work optimally with the Onyfix® compounds. The polymerization of the compounds needs a very specific power and wavelength.
